Simon and Dan also discuss the passing of a TV legend, the public appearance of someone named Jimmy Giggle, and the US adaptation of Wilfred makes itself known online.

It’s been a big week for tearing down Australian institutions. And by that, I mostly mean Hey Hey It’s Saturday and the ABC.
On this weeks show Dan and Simon are joined by Heath as they discuss:

Diminishing ratings for Hey hey It’s Saturday
Media Watch’s criticism of ABC’s Mediahub
The casting of the US version of Wilfred
Freeview launch its EPG. No, really.

This evening the Internet held two revelations for me. Both concerning folks named Wilfred.

The first is that SBS series Wilfred is getting play in the US on IFC. You may remember Wilfred as a short-run stoner comedy series about a guy in a dog suit. The show was never great, but I’m sure it will attract a loyal audience stateside as it did locally.

The other news that had me floored was this website that catalogues cats who happen to look like Wilfred Brimley. The perfect website? I say yes.
