India's Got Talent, recreate Super Mario
This is why the world is outsourcing their services to India, they’re doing it better than we are! First call centres, now Talent Shows.
The group Illuminati in the following clip recreate a “non-canon” version of Super Mario (with Luigi!) to a polite, if slightly confused, audience and panel of judges.
Surely this is far superior to someone who looks like they want to sell you the Big Issue while blowing on a Gum Leaf.

But what would Red say?

Maybe the judges were just confused by the non-canon nature of the interpretation. Points were lost for not revealing that the Princess is in another castle.

For some reason, it made me think of the Joey Comeau idea for a non-anon mario
We need a new Mario game, where you rescue the princess in the first ten minutes, and for the rest of the game you try and push down that sick feeling in your stomach that she’s “damaged goods”, a concept detailed again and again in the profoundly sex negative instruction booklet, and when Luigi makes a crack about her and Bowser, you break his nose and immediately regret it. When Peach asks you, in the quiet of her mushroom castle bedroom “do you still love me?” you pretend to be asleep. You press the A button rhythmically, to control your breath, keep it even.

if you look on youtube there’s a few clips of what look like school talent shows of kids doing similar things. some are really quite good/funny.

That was great – Flouro theatre mario mashup works a treat! The ‘powers that be’ are going to love a group with that name.. hehe.
