Save Chuck

Lets be honest: Most campaigns to save a TV show suck. The fans are usually exceedingly impassioned, while the show is generally middling. Jericho, I’m looking at you buddy!

Save Chuck

For me, there is something different about Chuck. When I first saw the show, it was indifference at first sight. A couple of episodes in, however, and Chuck started working his charms on me. Lightweight and inconsequential, there is just something about the show that works.

In recent weeks, the show has begun to play with its formulaic storytelling more – evolving into something unique. Characters have become compelling, while the story-lines have maintained their whimsy, but are delivering a much needed weight that the show previously lacked. Chuck has become Must See TV.

And yet there is a very strong danger of cancellation. Just as the show has found its feet and is set to prove itself as a viable property, its poor ratings (and a reduced commitment to scripted series with Leno now taking 5 hours a week at 10pm on NBC) have it as a strong contender for cancellation.

Over the next three weeks, US TV executives will be assembling their TV schedules for the next season, determining which shows will be renewed and will find a place on the schedule. Whether Chuck has a home is yet to be completely determined.

What can you do to Save Chuck? Well, Give Me My Remote has a few worthy suggestions. You could also ensure that you start watching Chuck locally. In Australia Chuck airs on Foxtels Fox 8 channel on Wednesday nights at 8:30pm.

If you haven’t given Chuck a go previously, be sure to tune in. Chuck isn’t just good. It’s “Buffy” good.
