The Golden Globes
It is worth noting that the 2009 Golden Globes are not being screened in Australia on FTA television. If you are interested in watching, you’ll need to find a friend with Foxtel.
The self-congratulatory awards show will be aired on Arena on Foxtel.
While Televised Revolution isn’t all that excited about the Golden Globes generally (really, who the heck votes in these awards?), it does question the reason as to why Channel Ten, who traditionally broadcast the event, have opted not to broadcast the awards. Surely the only rationale is ratings. And if that is an issue, why not simply broadcast the event on a digital multi-channel. Isn’t that one of the benefits of having such an additional service?
Many viewers look to television not for the most recent episode of House, but rather for the big events. If fewer and fewer big events are being broadcast on FTA, it simply becomes another reason why viewers switch over to pay television.
Tonight, Televised Revolution will be skipping FTA television altogether tonight in favour of watching a DVD.
