Obama Saves Television

After the Australian Federal Govt has spent years upon years supposedly readying us for digital television, we keep seeing the analog switch-off date being pushed further and further back. It was impressive to see the way that the US Government seemed so proactive in getting its significantly larger population to be digital-ready for their analog switch-off in just a couple of weeks time.

Not everything has been running so smooth it seems. Digital STB coupons to the value of $40 have started running out, creating fears that some people may be left behind in the digital revolution.

Today comes news that the Obama administration have been seeking an extention to the Feb 17 cut-off date – a move supported by local broadcast networks.

Hopefully Stephen Conroy is paying attention to the successes and failures of the US switch-over when our time comes. Will we experience a smooth changeover? And will Centrebet allow me the chance to put some money down on it?
