How Delightful: 17 Feb 2010
How Delightful, your weekly primer for wasting time on the Internet, is back for another week. We have a mix this week of some news relating to Televised Revolution itself, as well as providing y’all with a bunch of interesting links to articles that may excite and delight.
First up, some Televised Revolution information:
For fans of listening to Simon on the radio, he’ll be hosting 4ZzZ’s Film Club program this Thursday night at 6pm local Brisbane time. Tune in to listen on 102.1fm, or streamed online at www.4zzzfm.org.au. I believe regular TV Rev radio show contributor Dennis will be paneling the show, so be sure to take a listen.
Dan has been out and about making a contribution to Crikey this week. Take a read of his short advisory to get folks tuning in to watch the pervy late night supernatural soap Dantes Cove. The column received some criticism from his mother, who labelled it smut. Also, a gentleman wrote to Crikey advising:
The poor boy nods off while watching a show late at night that most of us haven’t hear of and suddenly he wakes up to images of horizontal folk dancing between to “comely lasses.”
Hey Dan pull the other one. It is us you are talking to not your mother or Tony Abbot asking you to explain the magazines under your bed. If you want to watch soft p-rn on late night TV all power to you but please spare us the excuses.
He then goes on to suggest repression as the cause. It’s odd as the purpose of the initial article was recommending people watch this deliciously pervy bit of telly.
For those of you in Brisbane, Televised Revolution is having drinks with anyone who wants to join us in a beverage or two. It’ll be at 6pm at the Greystone Bar at South Bank. If people are keen, we’ll make it a semi regular thing. What can be better than talking telly and drinking a fine ale? Also, we’ve found there are an increasing number of high school students listening to the radio show (which is AWESOME). Obviously they can’t get along to drinks at a bar, but if there is any interest in some sort of TV Rev event, please drop us an email and we’ll try and work something out for you.
But, what else is going on in the world of TV and the Internets?
When the rats start fleeing the ship, the really bland captain with a massive chin should possibly start trying to plug the leaks. Kevin Eubanks may very well be leaving The Tonight Show.
Speaking of Late Night, one of the most fun aspects of The Larry Sanders Show was watching the problems that the shows talent booker (played by Janeane Garofalo) had in getting guests. Well, it seems that The Late Late Show with Craig fergusons booker this week made a bit of a gaffe.
The quite lovely Christina Hendricks from Mad Men is complaining about constant discussion of her body in this article, accompanied by a spunky as all heck photo shoot that shows off her bod. Lovely irony.
The greatest movie you perhaps haven’t yet seen is called The Room. Check out the many, many clips on the YouTube. Crikey has this excellent interview with the star, writer, producer, and all-round amazing auteur Tommy Wiseau.
The decision to bone Brisbane Extra was perhaps quite justified. As the current ratings report shows, Millionaire Hot Seat has almost doubled the ratings of Deal or No Deal. It certainly puts Nine Brisbane in a much stronger position. Evidenced by the 6pm News bulletin increases.
What does it mean to be on The Bubble? Which US shows are in danger of not being renewed?
And stepping quickly aside from telly to take a look at publishing. Surely with falling sales, newspapers would be excited to be able to tap into a new revenue markets to keep their organizations solvent? Right? Well…
