Televised Revolution – Episode 239

We set our focus this week on subscription TV services. After examining the news this week that Foxtel may be seeking to strike deals with movie studios directly rather than by going through longtime providers The Movie Network and Premium Movie Partnership, we set our focus on one of the newer online TV distribution platforms: The BBC iPlayer.

Dan took a look at the iPlayer service in November last year, but was enthused at the chance to have a chat with John Beohm, the Programme Manager for the BBC iPlayer. John was good enough to give us some of his time this week as we discuss the iPlayer platform, programme selection decisions, and the relationship that exists between Programmer and Viewer on a platform such as this.

At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

About the Author

spends far too much time talking about TV. When he isn't editing the Televised Revolution website, he hosts the TV Rev podcast. When he isn't doing that, Dan can also be heard on the Televised Revolution: In Review podcast where he reviews television. He can be found on the couch with excessive regularity.
