Back for its eighth season this week is the Showtime dramedy series Weeds. Debuting way back in 2005 and starring Mary-Louise Parker, the series eighth season was announced to be its last. For those unfamiliar, Weeds follows Parker as Nancy Botwin as a recent widowed mother who, after the sudden death of her husband begins selling marijuana in order to support her family. The show has changed locations numerous times throughout its run, beginning in California and most recently in Manhattan and Connecticut. The last thirteen episodes of Weeds air on Sundays in the US.

Returning for a second season this week is the Lisa Kudrow fronted Web Therapy. Kudrow stars as therapist Fiona Wallace who has conceived a new form of therapy (as the title suggests) web therapy by conducting all sessions via web cam over the internet. The series is based on the online series of the same name also starring Kudrow which was highly improvised and launched in 2008. The series has a notable recurring cast including Victor Garber (Alias) and Lily Tomlin as well as featured guest turns by Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation), Jane Lynch (Glee), Alan Cumming, Meryl Streep(!) and fellow Friends castmate Courtney Cox throughout its run. Web Therapy also airs on Showtime on Sundays in the US.

Another series connected with Friends is the Matt LeBlanc comedy Episodes which has started its second season in the US. Created by David Crane (Friends) and his partner Jeffrey Klarik Episodes follows a British husband and wife comedy writing team (played by Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig) who travel to Hollywood in order to remake their successful British TV series ‘Lyman’s Boys’ for an American audience in which Matt LeBlanc is cast in the lead role. Much like James Van Der Beek recently playing a fictionalised version of himself in Don’t Trust The B in Apartment 23, Matt LeBlanc plays an exaggerated version of himself here. Episodes is both a US and UK production, airing on both Showtime and the BBC with the majority of the series filmed in UK. The series second season finale airs this week in the UK (it premiered there back in May) whereas US viewers can catch the the seasons second episode this week.
