Buried Treasure: 1 Oct – 6 Oct

Buried Treasure is back in print form. After taking it on as a podcast thing, I decided it’d work ever so much better in its old traditional home here.

And wouldn’t you know it, after weeks of treasure surplus, there is zip this week, meaning I can’t even pad out the list with morose conversation.

SUNDAY
You May Be Right (Seven, 7:30pm)-
This is hardly a telly highlight, but I do think its astounding that the show is back on the air in such a prominent timeslot considering how poorly it fared a few months ago. Especially since it is the exact same slot. Surprisingly, despite the fact this Spicks and Specks cash-in tanked horribly, Nine have their own rip-off in development.

MONDAY
Money (Nine, 9:30pm)-
Out of nowhere comes the return of this early to mid-90′s TV staple. This time, it seems that Paul Clitheroe is to be joined by Georgie Parker, in front of a studio audience. How many weeks will we give this?

Jake In Progress (Seven, 11:30pm)- John Stamos returns to television in this single camera comedy. The show was poorly received by critics and viewers, but managed to limp on to a second season in the US. On Monday, Australia gets the first episode of the show which is, well, it is what it is. A male seeking love in the big apple. I think I preferred it when it was called The Single Guy.

TUESDAY
Hot Docs (SBS, 10pm)-
What compells a person to commit acts of genocide during war time? This documentary takes a fascinating look at the concept of evil.

Band of Brothers (Nine, 10:30pm)- The series of repeats continue of this brilliant HBO mini-series. Each episode focuses on a different era of the second World War, told through the eyes of Easy Company. I challenge you to find a war film that is better than this series.

THURSDAY
The Ronnie Johns Half-Hour (Ten, 10pm)-
Despite generating a loyal audience over its three seasons, Ten insists on pairing this up with the struggling David Tensch Tonight series. Reportedly the producers are pissed off. Ironically, this also puts the show head-to-head against the other comedy highlight of the week on SBS, The Daily Show.

About

Dan Barrett spends far too much time talking about TV. When he isn't editing the Televised Revolution website, he hosts the TV Rev podcast. When he isn't doing that, Dan can also be heard on the Televised Revolution: In Review podcast where he reviews television. He can be found on the couch with excessive regularity.
